Features of All-in-One Sidebar

An overview of the implemented features is presented and my ideas for the future are listed on the to-do-list. If you have other ideas for improving AiOS, please post your suggestions in the forum after reading this page. :-)

  • Open in the sidebar: Bookmarks, History, Downloads, Add-ons (Get Add-ons, Extensions, Themes and Plugins), Page Info, Page Source and Error Console
  • All-in-One Sidebar Toolbar: fully configurable (FAQ #1 - FAQ #2), different view modes (FAQ #3), placeable at different positions around the sidebar (FAQ #4)
  • Automatically show/hide the sidebar without a click - with additional toolbar button (off by default)
  • Sidebar orientation left or right
  • Sidebar Switch to toggle the toolbar and the sidebar with only one click (with additional features for Ctrl+Left-click [middle-click] and Shift+Left-click) - learn more...

  • MultiPanel Sidebar - open a website, the source code or different browser information (e.g. about:config) in the sidebar
  • PanelTab Button - open any sidebar content in a new tab or in a window and open any tab content in the sidebar
  • Fully configurable keyboard shortcuts - default settings
  • Customize the behavior of the sidebar at startup, in full screen mode and more. E.g. you can choose a sidebar panel which should open automatically at browser startup
  • Sidebar Panel Button (AiOS Button) - easy access all installed sidebar panels. All sidebar extensions are supported, which creates a menu item in Firefox's sidebar menu
  • Toolbar buttons for all new sidebar panels with options to open the content in the sidebar, in a new tab or in a window
    (Downloads, Add-ons, MultiPanel, Page Info, Page Source, Error Console)
  • Toolbar button for showing/hiding the All-in-One Sidebar Toolbar.
  • Set the minimum, default and maximum width of the sidebar and restore these settings easily
  • Export/import settings from the options dialog - allows easier configuration on a second computer or after creating a new profile

    • Automatically close other folders
      (same behavior as in MSIE, but it only works when you click on a folder name, not on the "+ signs")
    • Remember and focus last selected folder

  • Slim list
  • Counter in the sidebar header shows the number of finished/downloading/failed downloads
  • Highlight the different states (finished/paused/unfinished, failed/canceled)

• Add-ons (view screenshot)

  • Layout optimized for the sidebar
  • Slim list
  • Counter in the sidebar header shows the number of enabled/disabled add-ons
  • Highlight the different states (enabled/disabled, to be installed/to be uninstalled, incompatible)
  • Homepage of add-ons always opens in a new tab instead of a new window
  • Dragging webcontent on add-ons button opens the panel
